Garden Buddies 2009

When: Saturday, November 7 from 10 am – Noon

Where: Kilbourn Park Fieldhouse Gymnasium

Fee per child is $5, parents are free

Recommended for children ages 2-6 years old

This is a family event that celebrates the season and brings the garden inside. We are going to be focusing on leaves and seeds through hands on activities. Your children can make their own leaf journal and fill it up with rubbings, prints, collages, and even their own homemade paper. They will also explore seeds through a close up look at the fall flowers and planting an edible sprouting necklace.

Peter Pan is returning to Kilbourn Park and so is our storyteller Nancy Roberts for this event.

Local crafts and healthy snacks will be available for sale at the event to help raise funds for Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse.

You can purchase your event tickets in advance at the Kilbourn Park Field House Monday- Thursday 1 pm – 7 pm.

Perennial Give Away

Openlands connected Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse to Elite Growers who have over 1,000 1 gallon  perennial plants they would like to donate to gardeners and community gardeners/public spaces. They will be deliverying the plants on Tuesday, October 13 anytime between 10 am - 10:30 am. To facilitate this we need your help!
 
Here are a few ways you could participate.
 
1. Help unload the truck when it arrives. Volunteers can come to Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse at 10 am to help prepare for the delivery, unload and sort the plants for distribution. Volunteers would be welcome from 10 am - Noon or later if you can.
 
2. Pick up plants! Do you have a space in need of a few plants. Are you working for a public garden that could plant them soon. Come and pick up some perennials for your gardens! People can pick up plants on Tuesday, October 13 from 1 pm - 5 pm.

Let’s celebrate the coming winter at Kilbourn Park through hands-on exploration of leaves and seeds from the garden. Harvest Fest at Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse

Saturday, September 12^th from 1 pm - 4 pm

 

Come join our celebration of the summer garden and its bounty at Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse!  While visiting our gardens, you can enjoy hands-on crafts, gardening demonstrations to make the most out of fall, cooking demonstrations at 3 pm by chefs from Julius Meinl, and learn about endangered plants through an art installation.  We also encourage you to relax those gardening muscles with yoga and listen to music by a new community theater company coming soon to our park. This is a free family friendly event.

Harvest Festival 2008 - Saturday, September 13th from 1-4pm

A celebration of the summer garden for the entire family! While enjoying the gardens and activities come and learn more about organic gardening technique and cooking from its harvest. The entire family will enjoy a variety of activities from take home crafts, storytelling, garden yoga, and face painting.

Please note - in the event of rain the festival will move indoors to the Kilbourn Park fieldhouse.
